Tickets selling fast for Palace Author Talk
- Wed 12th Jul 2006
Tickets are selling like hot cakes for the chance to meet Jacqueline Wilson on August 5th when she will be live on stage at the Hayling Island Community Centre at 2pm. Those lucky enough to secure a ticket will hear her talk about her work and have a chance to ask Jacqueline questions.
A special bookshop will be set up at the venue with a full selection of her titles and after her talk Jacqueline will be signing books and meeting individual children.
Earlier in the afternoon, Jacqueline and the Carnival princess will declare the Hayling Carnival open and Jacqueline will give out the prizes for the Children’s Fancy Dress competition which this year has the theme of Books.
Jacqueline says “I'm thrilled to be taking part in the Hayling Island Carnival this year. I think Books is a wonderful theme to have. I'm looking forward to seeing many, many inventive and imaginative floats and fancy dress costumes. I hope I'll get time for an ice cream as well!"
Jacqueline was a guest author at the Party at the Palace hosted by her Majesty The Queen in June and will again be one of the most popular authors at the Edinburgh International Book Fair in August.
Jacqueline’s visit has been arranged by Hayling Island Bookshop, owner Marie Telford says “Jacqueline has had a very hectic schedule so far as Children’s Laureate and we are so pleased that she is able to come to smaller venues at more remote spots such as Hayling Island as well as visiting the big cities”
The Talk and book signing is a ticket only event. Tickets are expected to sell out before the event and are available from the Hayling Island Bookshop, 34 Mengham Road Hayling Island, or from Kaos, 64 Osborne Road, Southsea.
