Reward offered

- Thu 3rd Aug 2006

Another Hayling business owner has resorted to offering a reward to encourage people to come forward with information about a persistent vandal.

Monday night saw the windows of Millers estate agents, in Mengham, broken for the 3rd time this year in an act of vandalism.  With the shop front of this family estate agents almost continually boarded up since May, Director Roy Pine saw no alternative but to offer a reward for information about the string of crimes.

Saturday May 13th : Windows broken for the first time
Saturday June 24th : Windows broken for the second time
Monday July 31st : Windows broken for a third time

The £500 cash reward being offered is not the first this year that has been offered in the wake of vandalism.  April this year saw the owners of Brilliant Bathrooms in West Town offer a £300 reward in relation to a similar attack on their shop front.  (see http://www.hayling.co.uk/news/story580.html )

After the second attack on Millers in June, CCTV was installed.  Due to a temporary problem with the camera the images are not as clear as was hoped, but the images shown here clearly show a young man throwing a projectile towards the window.  It is hoped that this will be enough for someone to identify the person concerned and claim the reward.

Since the third attack on Monday the CCTV system has been improved and upgraded to provide clearer images in the future.
