Farm Walks & Talks Experience
- Fri 6th Oct 2006
Chichester Harbour Conservancy in conjunction with Three Harbours Beef are hosting a Farm Walks & Talks Experience. The event will be held on Sunday 22 October at Tournerbury Farm, Hayling Island.
The Farm Walks & Talks Experience, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will give the public a chance to see a working farm. Speakers will include Farming Advisor John Blamire, Farmer Graham Philips, Environmental Advisor Colin Hedley, Alison Fowler AONB Manager and County Archaeologist John Mills. Representatives from Hampshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB and the Friends of Chichester Harbour will also be on hand to provide information. Alison Fowler said: ‘Farmers play an important role in supporting and managing the wildlife and habitats found on coastal grazing marsh and farmland as a whole in Chichester Harbour AONB. We need to raise public awareness of the issues facing our farmers and the importance of supporting local food producers’.
The first walk will start at 10.30am with walks leaving every half hour up to 12.30pm. Each walk will talk approximately 1.5 hours. Refreshments including Three Harbour Beef burgers will be available for a small charge along with complimentary hot drinks. There will also be a raffle and promotional discounts and vouchers during the event.
There is no charge for the walk but all places must be booked in advance. Please contact Nicky Chequer on 01243 607243 or e-mail threeharboursbeef@yahoo.co.uk. Directions and walk information will be sent out by return.
Please note that no dogs are allowed to the event. Although the walk is not suitable for wheelchairs, all are welcome to attend the event and use the other facilities on offer.
