Crash closes off Church Road

Tuesday evening saw a car crash on Church Road result in the Island's main road route being closed for around an hour.

The crash, between a private car and a refuse skip , happened after dark at around 8pm as the North bound car collided with the skip.  The skip was being used to collect rubble from a house on Church Road where renovation work is being carried out close to the Kings Road junction. 

Several witnesses have since stated that the skip was not fitted with any lights at the time of the accident, but that these have since appeared.

The driver of the car, a local nurse, is believed to have sustained minor injuries in the crash.
