Mayoral Visit for the Hayling Seaside Railway
- Wed 6th Dec 2006
The festive season got off to a flying start at the Hayling Seaside Railway on Saturday 2nd December, when the Worshipful Mayor of Havant, Councillor Richard Brown made an official visit to the line, to launch the railway’s 2006 season of Santa Specials.
The Mayor arrived at the Eastoke Corner terminus of the one mile narrow gauge railway, accompanied by his family, for a very special ride to see Father Christmas, in his railway carriage grotto.
On arrival of the Mayoral train at Santaland, he and his party chatted with the railway’s volunteers, before being escorted to an audience with great man himself.
Although full details of The Mayor’s Christmas wish list are of course strictly confidential, Father Christmas reliably informs us that His Worship always looks forward to visiting Hayling Island, and thoroughly enjoys his journeys on the Hayling Seaside Railway.
The Hayling Seaside Railway’s “Santa Specials’ will continue to run on Saturdays 9th, 16th and 23rd December, Sundays 10th and 17th December, plus Monday to Friday 18th to 22nd December. Departures from Eastoke Corner station are hourly from 11am to 3pm.
Advanced booking although not essential is advisable, so to make your reservation please phone Bob Haddock on 023 92 372427, or email: james.harris203@ntlworld.com
