Hayling based Police Sergeant, Duncan Warry, has reportedly been suspended from duty as a result of facing charges of Actual Bodily Harm.
A written statement from Hampshire Constabulary states that 'A police officer from Central Operational Command Unit appeared before magistrates on December 14 charged with strangulation with intent to commit actual bodily harm. Duncan Warry, 47, who serves as a sergeant in Hayling Island has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.'
The charges are believed to centre around an incident between Sgt Warry and his, now-ex, wife. A full court hearing is expected to be held next year.
The Portsmouth News, who recently included a nomination for Sgt Warry as "Best Bobby" will today leading with full front page coverage of the story that has shocked many locals.
