TWO Great Car Events on Hayling Island!

- Thu 24th May 2007

Clear skies and sunshine were the order of the day at Hayling on Sunday 20 May, when the Island’s Beachlands sea front was host to not one but two, great classic vehicle events on the same day.

While the Inn on the Beach played host to the 1950’s and 60’s American hot rods of the Victory Wheelers, the Funland Amusement Park and Hayling Seaside Railway joined forces to entertain the often more sedate vintage and veteran cars of the LL (Local Locomotion) Club.

Each of the two complimentary events enjoyed an excellent turn out, both from participating exhibitors and general visitors, having now been successfully held on the same date for the past two years. While ably supporting both events were the local classics, rods and bikes from the Islands very own car group the Hayling Legends.

At Beachlands station the volunteers of the Hayling Seaside Railway itself were also en fete, putting on a fine display of their own lovingly restored narrow gauge rolling stock, which could be seen in action on both passenger and goods trains on the two foot gauge track to Eastoke Corner.

With a number of exciting vintage transport events already in the offing from the Hayling Seaside Railway, Hayling Legends and their associated groups and friends, Hayling Island and its sea front is fast establishing itself as a popular destination, in the world of Classic and Heritage Transport.
