Control of Watersports

Hi Guys,

I welcome the attempt to get a view on Kitesurfing although it is not clear what will be done with the data. Will it result in some action being taken?

For myself and just about everyone else for that matter, I am still unsure about the formal arrangements for Windsurfing. I understood that west of the Inn on the Beach is now designated as a Windsurfing launch area but the blue sign instructing Winsurfers to keep west of it, is confusingly still in place about halfway between the Inn and the Golf Clubhouse.

What about the car park area immediately to the east of the Inn? This seems to be well used by windsurfers since there is easy launching and proximity to the refreshment hut (when it is open!!) Is this too an approved area?

Why is it necessary for me to have to ask these questions. Is it beyond the capabilities if the council to put up some signs?

During the summer months there will inevitably be continued angst between Windsurfers and non-Windsurfers unless these matters are clearly resolved and signposted.

For the record, Kitesurfers should be shot for jeopardising the lives of innocent windsurfers with lines that threaten to de-capitate anyone within 100 yards of them - its only a matter of time. Jet/Wet bikers should be flogged before being shot. It is a travesty that the tranquility of hundreds of beach users can be disturbed by even a single high pitched engine whine - never mind when several of these thoughtless people are roaring away less than 100 feet from the beach. The beach officials who so avidly seek out non-parking fee payers seem happy to disregard this mechanical and ecological menace. It should be remembered that people are not actually paying for parking, they are really paying for the ability to use the beach and its facilities (yes even the awful toilets).

Finally, it should be remembered that if it were not for Windsurfing, the beach would be mostly deserted and that's not good for anybody. There are many many occasions when there are 100 or more cars in the car park between the Inn and the Golf Clubhouse that are exclusively there for the Windsurfing. Windsurfing brings a vitality to the area that would be irreplaceable as well as bringing another revenue source to the local economy.

I think I'll go and have a lie down now.

Regards
