'A clean and tidy lot'.

As you may already have heard, the travellers who were encamped on Bosmere Field left last night and are now encamped at Broadmarsh Business Park and on the highway at Southmoor. The gentleman who came to the field to serve the evicton process papers to the Travellers arrived to find they had disappeared (At 8.15 pm last night). he is serving the papers on the site, so that the site should be protected for 3 months.

A selection of photographs taken by me (Robert Griffiths) at 0930 today showing what was left behind, working round three sides of the field. There were further piles of rubbish on the eastern side. The field itself is also strewn with miscellaneous litter and dog mess. At some points on the western side beside the stream there is a stench of human excrement (see picture 10). These are the people described by Inspector Murphy as a 'clean and tidy lot'. I gather the cost of cleanup, exacerbated by the refusal of the police to shift these people, now falls to Havant chargepayers.
