International Childrens Horror Writer to hold Evening Book Event in October
- Mon 3rd Sep 2007
Darren Shan, international king of the teen read horror novel is to visit Hayling Island on October 2nd for a major event arranged by the Hayling Island Bookshop. In the only event of its kind on this part of the South Coast, Darren will give a talk on Stage at The Hayling Island Community Centre starting at 6.30pm and then sign copies of his new Book.
Shan who completed a US tour in the summer has been starring at the Edinburgh International Book Fair and will be at the Bath Festival of Children’s Literature immediately before he comes to Hayling Island. He will be talking about his sixth book in the Demonata series and the title of this latest blood curdling epic will be kept secret until just a few days before he visits us.
Marie Telford from the Bookshop says “This is a chance for Shansters in the South to hear and meet the king of horror when he swoops into Hayling Island for an evening feast of bloodcurdling thrills and chills as he invites you into the his grisly world and introduces Demonata Book 6.
Horror meister Shan will be talking on stage and then meet fans and signing copies of his books for those who dare to come.
Could this be the most terrifying title yet? If you are a Darren Shan fan you have to be there! If you want to you can come in costume from the Saga or Demonata and we’ll judge the best”
Admission will be by Ticket Only, Guideline age is 10+. Tickets will go on sale on September 3rd from The Hayling Island Bookshop, Mengham Road 02392 466620 www.haylingislandbookshop.co.uk or Kaos, Osbourne Road Portsmouth 023 92610266 and from many local School Librarians.
