Re - Control of Watersports

Surfman makes a fair point about clearing up the regulation of windsurfing. However as a fellow windsurfer, I have to say that his comments on kitesurfers and jetskis sound far too much like those that used to be made by surfers and swimmers when windsurfing was catching on about 15 years ago.
I remember all the worries about people being run over by gybing windsurfers and getting lacerated limbs or being knocked out by flying rigs. Well thank goodness people were a bit more tolerant and gave us the chance to show them that we're not all out of control and dangerous.
I'm sure the same is true with kitesurfers and jetskiers - certainly there will be the odd idiot putting himself or others in danger, but if you want a nice safe sport try bowls. Kitesurfers and jetskiers have never caused me any problems and I've been impressed by their ability to keep out of our way.
I used to hate sharing my local break with canoeists until one of them rescued me after my board snapped in two. Keep your wits about you on the water and keep your mind open to others and we can all enjoy the water together.
