MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 13TH NOVEMBER 2007

Tony Higham, Lois Neale, Dale Norman, Colin Richards, Dave Turvey

Councillor Andy Lenaghan

2. Apologies Carole Evans

3. Matters arising from the Last Minutes.

NEHRA Correction - St Peters Avenue, not Road.
Planning Re-application for planning permission now counts as a new application and the full fee is charged.

4. Planning Issues

Strong Objection to some aspects of Tesco’s plans made. It was hoped that the parking at the Retail Park and Tesco’s would encourage linked shopping. At the moment the Retail car park is for two hours only and pressure is being made to bring it in line with Tesco. The balance of feeling of the committee was that the enlarged store and related improvements might have the overall effect of benefiting Havant as a destination for shoppers.

Concern was noted over the ban on buggies in lifts, as this led to problems over recharging of batteries and safe storage. Andy to check into this.

2 Oakwood Road. Planning for demolition of bungalow, to be replaced with two houses. Objection as this could have a roller coaster effect.

5. NEHRA

The Northney Village Design Statement report is ready for printing. The deadline is March or lose out on the Conservancy Grant.

The VDS for Hayling could be a project for the RA to promote

6. Topics for Discussion

6.1 The Community Board meeting was well attended and a wide range of topics discussed, among which were Youth issues and the environment.

The Community Board was a consultative feedback to the HBC whereas the RA was an independent organisation.

6.2 M T I. The AGM had been very successful with a positive approach to the future. There was a need for more business people to be involved.

6.3 The draft of the Christmas Newsletter was approved. The front would have an aerial view of Hayling Island. Included with the Newsletter would be a postcard, encouraging people to renew their membership. It was hoped to include a response from David Willett to the questions raised at the AGM

6.4. Brenda was going through the membership list to ascertain the actual number of members.

7. Correspondence

Still on going the question of a bus service between West Town and Mengham.

8. Islander Report.

Tony said he had enough topics to cover a good report.

9. A O B

Report of the meeting at the Sailing Club when arrangements for the 2012 Olympics were discussed. There did not appear to be much involvement for Hayling Island, except for
some training and hopefully visitors to the Island before and after the events.

Three Harbours Leader programme - covers Pagham, Chichester and Langstone.

M T I Hayling Island, Emsworth, Selsey and Arundel
