Police appeal for witnesses to robbery
- Tue 12th Feb 2008
Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery that happened in Hayling Island on Saturday, February 9.
The incident occurred between 2.30am and 3am, when a 20-year-old man was walking along Hollow Lane.
He was approached by two men from behind, who pinned him against a wall, searched through his pockets and took his wallet before running off in the direction of Beach Road and the seafront.
The victim received grazing to the left side of his face.
He did not get a good enough look at his attackers to be able to provide a description.
Detective Sergeant Martin Crocker said: “This is obviously a very shocking and upsetting incident for the victim.
“While it happened in the early hours of the morning, it was at the weekend and there may have been people out late.
“We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the robbery, or saw anyone acting suspiciously, to come forward as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should contact Waterlooville CID on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
