Hayling Needs You

Andy Lenaghan has asked us to assist with a problem;
-----------------------------------
From - Andy Lenaghan======================
Hants County Council are having difficulty in replacing the school crossing patrol at the two Mengham Schools.
This is a dangerous area as two schools are served by this patrol and a notorious stretch for drivers being less than courteous, some very aggressive.
It is two hours per day and the rate is £6.87 per hour.
They would also like to build a data base of people willing to do the job at short notice when sickness or other reasons for absence arise.
A good idea would be to job share which they will consider.
Please e mail me on andrew.lenaghan@havant.gov.uk and
I will forward your application, or direct to Hants County Council robina.hatchett@hants.gov.uk

I am a ward Councilor in Hayling Island West and the absence of a School crossing patrol in Elm Grove,
Hayling Island has been bought to my attention on several occassions recently.
Could you please update me on the situation as this is of a serious concern in view of the fact
that there are two schools within the vicinity and the standard of driving is aggressive to say the least,
especially in the mornings.
From=Robina Hatchett============================
Thank you for your enquiry. We are aware of this vacancy in Elm Grove.
The previous school crossing patrol left on 1st April and shortly after that date I had an expression of interest in the job from one of the mothers,
unfortunately she has not returned the application form so has possibly changed her mind about doing the job.
In the meantime I advertised the vacancy through the two schools as part of our routine procedure when vacancies arise -
the children have flyers to take home and there should be posters around the school sites hoping to attract family members.
To my knowledge we have not received any interest, although the Human Resources Department handle all application forms and
I will check with them after the weekend to see if any have been received.
Is it possible that you could help us with this recruiting problem?
If I arrange to send you some A4 posters could you place them in suitable places such as nearby shops/library etc or
places where people congregate like community halls or doctors' surgeries.
This would be very helpful. If you are willing to do this, please let me have an address for posting.
From=Robina Hatchett============================
Thank you very much , I will put some posters in the post to you.
Unfortunately we do not have a reserve list of volunteers.
We do have a few "Relief" staff, but they operate on specific sites close to where they live.
The hourly rate is £6.87 at present and we pay staff for 2 hours work per day. We do not reimburse travelling expenses.
When I send you the posters I will mention the need for relief patrols, also the fact that we would be happy for people to job-share.
I will send the posters through as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance.
