Bridge Work Starts Monday

Remedial work on the Hayling/Langstone bridge is due to start on Monday to address issues with the painting of the railings.

Since shortly after the installation of new railings was completed in 2003 concerns have be raised over how it has stood up to the Hayling weather. Large amounts of the west facing paintwork has been worn down or flaked off.

The work, which is due to begin today is to address "issues with the original workmanship" and will hopefully improve the appearance of this important gateway site.

Whilst the work is carried out one footpath at a time is due to be closed. There may also be disruption to traffic flow overnight. The work is scheduled to take 3 weeks.
