‘Playing on the Plaza 2‘ Arrives at Eastoke.

- Sun 18th May 2008

Eastoke Corner on Sunday 25 May between 3 and 5 in the afternoon is the time and place to be, as the second of the Hayling’s BEST Group’s ‘Playing on the Plaza’ concerts comes to the Liveability Plaza.

Youth will be very much to the fore as the show begins at 3pm sharp, with a set from talented 16 year old singer/musician Jack Cottle. A student from Hayling College with a surprisingly eclectic choice of musical influences, ranging from Billy Joel to The Beatles and Elton John, though to Kirsty McColl and the Pogues.

Jack recently turned in a stunning performance at the Kings Theatre Southsea, performing a selection of Billy Joel numbers to an appreciative audience, at a charity concert in aid the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth’s Charity Fund.

The interval segue will be provided by Hayling’s very own ‘Evolution Twirlers’, a junior majorette group trained by Islander Mandy Ibbs, and once part of the highly successful ‘Topaz Twirlstars’.

This new team formed as recently as March this year, are now set to compete in the British Isles Baton Twirlers Association Team Championships in May, as well as the UK Federation of Majorettes Solo Selections in September, while still keeping the 2012 Olympics firmly in their sights!

After the interval headling the gig, Scottish songstress Leona Kelly will be treating us to a medley of her favourite classic ballads and songs from the 60’s. Soon to appear at Hayling’s Park Dean Holiday Centre,
Leona has been a regular entertainer on the cruise ship circuit, as well as performing to holiday audiences in Spain and Italy.

While Park Dean will also be sending their little friends ‘The Mugals’ along to join in the fun, to entertain children with the magical adventures of Maxi Million. A young and playful adventurer who gets up to all sorts of action and fun, and his friends Milli and Multi, who we are told is part robot part Mugul!
