Hayling College Multi Agency Football Tournament

Everybody had football fever at Hayling College, Hayling Island on July 11 where up to 80 pupils, as well as Police and ACSO’s were involved in 11 football matches and all were rewarded with the presence of the FA cup.

The event was organised by Sergeant Steve Pratley who is based at Hayling Island Police Station who named it The Hayling College Multi Agency Football Tournament which started at 1.30pm until 3.30pm. The day was held for the young people of the Island to interact with the local Police along with the ACSO’s who felt it was a good opportunity to engage with the younger generation of the community.

Sergeant Steve Pratley said: “This was a great afternoon; we held a similar event just before Christmas and saw a very positive increase in the communication between ourselves and the pupils from the school. This time we also had the Accredited Community Safety Officers (ACSO's) present which gave everyone the opportunity to engage in a fun way. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and I would like to thank Hayling Hardware for the sponsorship of the winning trophies and of course Portsmouth Football Club for allowing us to have the FA cup present giving everyone a photo opportunity."

This event was the second one held so far and there is the hope of holding two a year all with the same agenda of communicating with the young people.
