A whale of a problem
- Fri 1st Aug 2008
A 20ft bottle-nosed whale was discovered in Chichester Harbour yesterday.
This whale is the same as the one which swam up the Thames in January 2006. this one died eventually
Attempts were made to escort it back to the sea, but the seven-ton whale swam back and became lodged on the mudflats at the Hayling bridge causeway.
A team of experts from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue were hosing the whale down to keep it comfortable.
They will be monitoring the health of the mammal and make further attempts to get it to return to the open sea. The time is running out for the creature.
